We invite you to look around our website and see all that we have to offer young mathematicians like yourself! We encourage you to participate by bringing your research and making a presentation. You may either submit an abstract for one of our contributed paper sessions or for our "Best Student Poster" competition. Either way, you can submit the full paper for consideration for publication in the refereed journal, Congressus Numerantium.
We are looking for new results and high quality exposition in Combinatorics, Graph Theory and Computing.

Information and Instructions
Purpose of this event
: To celebrate and encourage research that involves students at both graduate and undergraduate levels in the areas of Combinatorics, Graph Theory and Computing, and to acknowledge the work being done by the next generation of mathematicians.
Who is eligible:
- Graduate or undergraduate students who present a poster based upon research in which they participated.
- Authors and presenters of posters
- Only students’ names will appear on the posters.
- One of these students will be designated as the principal presenter of the poster.
- The principal presenter must be present at the Conference and be present at the poster for the formal presentation.
- Any other individuals, students or faculty, who will be identified as contributing to the work, must sign a form certifying that the mathematics on the poster is the work of the authors listed on the poster.
- Each poster will receive an identification number, and will be placed in the lobby area by the Registration table.
- Principal presenters of posters will be given adhesive tabs, their poster number, and a map of the location of the numbers upon their arrival when they sign in for the conference.
- Principal presenters may hang their posters at any time on Monday, March 6th or Tuesday morning, March 7th.
- Presenters are expected to be present at their posters for the formal presentation between 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
- One faculty judge from each of the areas of combinatorics, graph theory and computing (without a student in the competition) will rank the first three choices for graduates and the first three choices for undergraduates, with fewer if there are fewer posters in either section.
- Poster Comment Sheets will be provided to each conference participant in the conference packets distributed during registration.
- Conference participants will be asked to submit Poster Comment Sheets at Registration Desk no later than 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 8th, 2017.
- The Comments Sheets will be given to the judges at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8th, 2017.
- Awards will be presented at the Wednesday night banquet.
- Cash prizes will be awarded. First place poster in each division (graduate and undergraduate) will receive a $150 cash reward and one banquet ticket.
- Second place posters in each division will receive a $50 cash award and one banquet ticket.
- Division of these awards among multiple authors will be left to the discretion of the principal presenter.
Every accepted poster:
- Will have its abstract published in Congressus Numerantium.
- Will have the authors and abstracts listed in the list of abstracts on line and printed in the Program book.
How to submit a poster:
- Submit an abstract for the poster on or before February 10, 2017 to email@example.com.
“Poster Submission” in the subject line on your email submission.
- You will receive an email from Dr. Kim Factor once your poster has been approved for the session.

Abstract Submission Requirements:
- An abstract is required for each poster
- Submit your abstract as a PDF to firstname.lastname@example.org by February 10, 2017, at 5:00 PM EST
- The abstract must not exceed ½ of an 8.5 by 11 inch page in length.
- A minimum of 250 words is required.
- Use a Times New Roman font.
- Font size should be no smaller than 10 pt and no larger than 12 pt.
- Text must be single-spaced.
Left: 1.0 in.
Right: 1.0 in.
Top: 1.0 in.
Bottom: 1.0 in.
- The abstract should be divided into the following major headings, where headings are capitalized and centered, with paragraphs below them left-justified:
- Project Title
- Student Name
- Supporting Faculty Name(s)
- Student’s Institution
- Student Involvement
- Posters are expected to be printed in a professional manner on paper at least 30"× 40."
- The poster may be oriented in either the landscape or portrait direction.
- We suggest that all posters include a minimum of the following (and not necessarily in the order listed below):
- Names of student and advisor
- Academic affiliation and any grant affiliations associated with the research
- Highlights of the research idea, methods and results
- Figures, tables, and other visual aids to enhance understanding the research
- Citations of work done by others
- Description of innovation and significance of work
Suggestions and Tips:
- Pictures can say more than words—you will be explaining things in the poster session, so use figures, etc., to get people’s interest instead of writing everything down—a poster is not a paper.
- Pick out the highlights of your research and create a specific theme upon which everything in your poster focuses.
- Be prepared during the presentation to explain in a bit more depth the concepts included on your poster.
- Be prepared to answer questions from viewers.
- You may want to have copies of your abstract available during the session, but that is not necessary, since the abstracts will be included in the conference material.
- Print should be readable from 3 to 6 feet away—Larger titles that are informative encourage people to come and see your poster.
- Posters may get people interested in the research you are doing, and that can be very important when networking and/or trying to make career moves.
