Natural disasters are getting bigger, costs are skyrocketing, and many of our communities are not adequately prepared. On the other hand, it’s time to realize dividends from wise investments in hazard mitigation–from making significant policy changes to steer development into better designs and locations–and from rethinking the way we organize disaster recovery through planning. Learn about the studies and best practices that have paved the way to a smarter future if only political and civic leaders in vulnerable communities will seize the moment and assert new leadership to take advantage of what we already know.
