Beyond Diversity to Equity and Inclusion
Celebrate and reflect on diversity, equity, and inclusion in science. The Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Science is hosting the inaugural Diversity in Science Festival. High school and middle school students, undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff will enjoy science-related exhibitions, interactive games, and activities. Panelists and speakers will facilitate candid dialogue on transparency, accountability, inclusion, and equity. The festival encourages partnerships between the university, clubs, and local communities to promote the ideals of mutual respect and inclusion.

About the Diversity in Science Festival
The Diversity in Science Festival aims to:
- Celebrate the diversity of the Schmidt College of Science and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) milestones of its departments and programs
- Create a platform for reflective assessment by the Schmidt College of Science to execute the benefits of diversity
- Facilitate candid, college-wide dialogue on key pillars of DEI – transparency, accountability, inclusion, and equity
- Encourage partnerships between the Schmidt College of Science, clubs and local communities to promote the ideals of mutual respect of perspectives, equity and inclusion
- Examine the roots of bias and racism in American society and the unique roles that contemporary science can play to reverse misleading past ideas
