Curriculum Vitae

Steven Bourassa joined the School of Urban and Regional Planning in 2014 and was appointed Director at the beginning of 2015. Later that year, he was also appointed Director of the School of Public Administration; he served in that additional role until 2020. He is currently Chair of what is now referred to as the Department of Urban and Regional Planning. Prior to arriving at FAU, he was the KHC Real Estate Research Professor and Chair of the Department of Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Louisville. He has also been on the faculty at the Australian National University, University of Sydney, University of Auckland, and University of Memphis. House prices, housing tenure, land tenure, and property taxes are among the main subjects of his research. He received the 2014 International Real Estate Society Award for Achievement in International Real Estate Research and served as President of the International Real Estate Society in 2019. He is a Fellow of the Weimer School of Advanced Studies in Real Estate and Land Economics at the Homer Hoyt Institute. He is on the editorial boards of eight academic journals. He holds a Ph.D. in city and regional planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
