Michael Stamm Jr. is an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning. Professionally, he is an Assistant City Manager and Director of the Planning and Economic Development Department for the City of Pembroke Pines. He has been with the City since 2004 and his department is responsible for economic development, housing programs, landscaping, long-range planning, short-term planning and zoning. Pembroke Pines is the 11th largest City in the State of Florida, spread over 34 square miles and home to over 170,000 residents. 

In addition to his municipal work, Mr. Stamm has taught in the undergraduate program since 2007.  He developed the Advanced Visual Planning Technology course that introduces students to GIS as well as a variety of computer programs used in the field of planning. He also works as a consultant for GIS related projects conducted through the department and has completed the following projects: redistricting options for Boynton Beach (2022), Cooper City (2012, 2021), Fort Lauderdale (2022), Greenacres (2022), Hollywood (2012,2022), Lake Worth Beach (2022), Pembroke Pines (2002), Tamarac (2016, 2022), North Lauderdale (2016, 2022). He also serves as a member of Board of Directors for multiple organizations including the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, Miramar-Pembroke Pines Chamber of Commerce and Optimist Club of Cooper City. 

Mr. Stamm served as a research assistant at the School’s Visual Planning Technology Lab where he worked on variety of projects including Florida International University Mobile Home Inventory, Port of Fort Pierce Master Plan and Florida Department of Transportation State Road 40 Feasibility Study. He was also employed as an Associate in Research at the FAU Center for Urban and Environmental Solutions where he worked on the GIS components of centers projects including Florida Department of Transportation Noise Barrier Inventory Geodatabase, Broward County’s Boat Facility Sighting Plan, the South Florida Regional Indicators study and the Economics of Beaches for the Florida Department of Community Affairs. Mr. Stamm is a FAU alumnus with a Bachelors degree in Public Management and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning.
