The Pre-Health Professions Office primary mission is to be a source of support and guidance for students interested in pursuing any career as medical, veterinary, dental, or Physicians Assistant school candidates. Our Pre-Health advisors are committed to providing advising tailored to meet the needs of each individual, creating meaningful relationships with our students. We work to create an environment full of academic excellence, strong relationships with students, faculty and staff; and learning opportunities through clinical experiences, community service, scientific inquiry and research as well as campus involvement.
The Career Changer Certificate is for graduate students that have NOT completed all of the prerequisite course work for any pre-health profession. This program is right for you if you are changing careers and are lacking the required classes for medical school or any other health professions. The Career Changer Certificate is designed to provide students with the prerequisite coursework and access to research and shadowing experiences prior to applying to any health professions school. Whether you are right out of college or are seeking to change careers, our post baccalaureate Career Changer Certificate will ensure that you get the preparation and background needed for acceptance into professional programs.

This option is for students that need to raise their GPA. To complete a second bachelor’s degree, students need a minimum of 30 new credits and complete 75 percent of the coursework at FAU. If the student’s GPA is below 3.0, they will meet with a regular academic advisor, once the GPA is at a minimum of 3.0, the student will be able to utilize the Pre-Health Advising services.
To apply for the second bachelor’s degree, students need to submit an FAU undergraduate application as degree seeking student selecting the second bachelor’s option (you must select a major different from your previous one. Recommended majors: Biological Sciences & Neuroscience & Behavior or Chemistry). You fill out the undergraduate application here.
This option is for students that are only looking to complete the required or missing courses for their intended pre-health professional career. Students are required to have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA to utilize the services from our Pre-Health Professions Office.
