Students in selected FAU undergraduate programs may participate in accelerated programs that allow completion of the MURP in less time than normally would be required. Accelerated or advanced standing programs are available for Bachelor of Architecture (BArch), Bachelor of Urban Design (BUD), and Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURP) students who satisfy the admissions requirements. The following programs are expected to go into effect in the Fall 2016 semester.
BArch/MURP Advanced Standing Program
This program allows FAU Bachelor of Architecture students the opportunity to complete the MURP in less time than normally would be required after graduating with the BArch. BArch students complete up to 12 credits of MURP core courses during their senior and thesis (fourth and fifth) years; these courses count as elective toward the BArch. The remaining 36 credits required for the MURP can be completed in as little as 15 months following graduation with the BArch.
Admission Requirements and Academic Standing
Applications to the advanced standing program may be submitted by BArch students during their senior or thesis (fourth or fifth) years of study. Applicants must have no academic deficiencies at the time of application.
Applicants must have a minimum undergraduate FAU GPA of 3.25 in order to be admitted to the program. The GRE will be waived for students admitted into this program. Students will otherwise follow gradate application procedures, as well as departmental requirements, for admission to this program. Students who meet the GPA requirement, provide a positive letter of support from a full-time School of Architecture faculty member, and provide a strong letter of intent will be eligible for admission.
Students must graduate with the BArch as soon as all of the requirements for that degree have been met. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 across all courses applied to the MURP. Both degrees require a total of 207 credits, including 159 for the undergraduate degree and 48 for the master's degree, with a maximum of 12 graduate credits in URP courses used to satisfy requirements for both degrees.
