Steven Bourassa joined the School of Urban and Regional Planning in 2014 and was appointed Director at the beginning of 2015. He received the additional appointment of Director of the School of Public Administration later that year. Prior to arriving at FAU, he was the KHC Real Estate Research Professor and Chair of the Department of Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Louisville. He has also been on the faculty at the Australian National University, University of Sydney, University of Auckland, and University of Memphis. House prices, housing tenure, land tenure, and property taxes are among the main subjects of his research. He received the 2014 International Real Estate Society Award for Achievement in International Real Estate Research and is a Fellow of the Weimer School of Advanced Studies in Real Estate and Land Economics at the Homer Hoyt Institute. He is on the editorial boards of five academic journals. He holds a Ph.D. in city and regional planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
